Morocco Desert 7 days Family Trek

The red city Marrakech is a veritable urban oasis filled with ancient souks, adorned by Moorish architecture and surrounded by majestic palm trees. There’s also the enchanting scent of spices and the famous traditional woven carpets, the whole flash. To tour the Medina, it’s necessary to take covered paths that are relatively narrow and winding.

 Today your 7 days Family Trek Morocco Desert camel trekking tour begins in the morning from your riad or accommodation in Marrakech and head toward the village of M’hamid, in the southeast of Morocco, at the very edge of the desert. M’hamid is the last inhabited village before the vast Sahara, a region offering a great variety of landscapes where you will explore and learn about the life of nomads. Transportation will be in a private vehicle, depending on the size of the group.

Along the way, we may stop in an Atlas village to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains. You will also visit Aït Ben Haddou, near Ouarzazate — a UNESCO World Heritage ksar — where you will discover the history of this iconic fortress, known locally as a kasbah.

We then continue toward Oulad Otmane in the Drâa Valley for lunch, surrounded by oasis landscapes and views of the Anti-Atlas mountains. The drive proceeds through the magnificent Drâa Valley, with its palm groves, oases, and the remains of old kasbahs along the famous “road of a hundred kasbahs.”

In the evening, you will spend the night with locals in the village or in a comfortable fixed bivouac located in the heart of Desert.

After breakfast, we load the portable camp onto the camels and begin our trek through the dunes, choosing the easiest paths and crossing a dried-up lake and scrub areas. Along the way, you’ll see how the desert landscape shifts from one region to another, following the hidden routes known by nomads.

We reach the magnificent Erg Zahar — the “screaming dunes” — one of the most beautiful and untouched dune systems in Morocco, far from mass tourism. Lunch is served after setting up our nomadic camp.

In the afternoon, we hike the highest dune of Zahar, offering impressive views and deep silence.

The night is spent under the stars, with music and nomadic stories shared by your guides.

During our Saharan desert trek, we wake at dawn to admire the sunrise over the golden dunes of Erg Zahar — an unforgettable moment in the calm of the Moroccan Sahara desert.

On the final day of our Trekking, we begin our walk after breakfast, we leave Erg Zahar toward M’Hamid El Ghislane, with a peaceful picnic under the tamarisk trees along the way.

We continue on foot with our camels through the captivating desert landscapes. Upon arrival in M’Hamid, the camels stop in the village center, marking the end of this wonderful Saharan adventure.

In the morning, we begin our journey back toward M’hamid before continuing all the way to Ouarzazate, where we expect to arrive in the late evening.
After breakfast, we walk a short distance across the dunes to meet our vehicle, which waits for us a little farther away since our camp is set in the heart of the desert. We leave the dunes behind and make our way to the fixed camp, where you will have time to enjoy a refreshing shower and prepare for the long drive.

Our route then takes us across the superb landscapes of the Draa Valley, following one of Morocco’s most iconic palm groves, dotted with ancient kasbahs, oases, and traditional Berber villages. Throughout the drive, you will have the opportunity to admire the contrast between the desert plains, the lush date palm forests, and the dramatic mountain scenery.

We continue our journey toward Ait Ben Haddou, arriving in the evening to Marrakech, where your adventure comes to an end.
